Paul Vautin Battle With Cancer

Skin cancer was diagnosed in Vautin, a former Australian rugby league player and commentator, in 2020. He had a patch of dry skin on his face that he thought was nothing to worry about, but when it didn’t heal, he went to see a doctor.
The diagnosis of actinic keratosis, a precancerous condition that can eventually develop into skin cancer if left untreated, was made by the doctor. Vautin was prescribed a cream called Efudix, which was applied to the affected area, resulting in the burning off of the precancerous cells. The treatment, although painful and leaving Vautin’s face red and swollen, was successful in removing the actinic keratosis.
Vautin has spoken out about his experience with skin cancer to raise awareness of the importance of sun protection. He has said that he is grateful that he caught the condition early and that he is now cancer-free.
