Ke Huy Quan, also known by his anglicized name Jonathan Ke Quan, is an accomplished American actor. He first gained fame as a child actor with his iconic roles as Short Round in the 1984 adventure classic Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and as Data in the beloved 1985 film The Goonies. After taking a hiatus from acting in the 1990s, Quan returned to the industry as an adult, working primarily as a stunt choreographer and assistant director.

Despite his lengthy break from acting, Quan proved that he hadn’t lost his touch with his outstanding performance in the 2022 science fiction film Everything Everywhere All at Once. His portrayal earned him several prestigious awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Notably, Quan is only one of two actors of Asian descent to receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the first actor born in Vietnam to win an Academy Award.

He was born into a family of Chinese descent with eight siblings. After the North Vietnamese took control of Vietnam, Quan fled with his father and five siblings to Hong Kong, while his mother and three siblings went to Malaysia. After staying at a refugee camp in Hong Kong, Quan’s entire family was admitted to the United States as part of the Refugee Admissions Program in 1979.

Quan also appeared in various television shows like “Head of the Class,” “China Beach,” “Vanishing Son,” and “The Amazing Panda Adventure.”

In recent years, he has kept a relatively low profile. He currently resides in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, with his wife Echo Quan.
