The 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS). Was conducted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other stakeholders. The survey collected data on a wide range of topics related to the health. And well-being of Kenyans, including fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, nutrition, and water and sanitation.

The key findings of the 2022 KDHS include:

  • The total fertility rate (TFR) has declined from 3.9 in 2014 to 3.4 in 2022.
  • The use of modern methods of family planning (MMFP) has increased from 52% in 2014 to 57% in 2022.
  • More women are attending antenatal care (ANC). Visits: 66% of women attended four or more ANC visits in 2022, up from 58% in 2014.
  • The proportion of births delivered in a health facility has increased from 60% in 2014 to 80% in 2022.
  • The under-5 mortality rate has declined from 52 deaths. Per 1,000 live births in 2014 to 41 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2022.
  • The HIV prevalence rate among adults aged 15-49 has declined from 5.6% in 2014 to 4.9% in 2022.
  • The malaria prevalence rate among children under 5 has declined from 34% in 2014 to 26% in 2022.
  • The stunting prevalence rate among children under 5 has declined from 29% in 2014 to 24% in 2022.
  • The wasting prevalence rate among children under 5 has declined from 10% in 2014 to 7% in 2022.

The 2022 KDHS provides valuable insights into the health and well-being of Kenyans. The findings of the survey can be used to inform policies. And programs that can help to improve the health of the Kenyan population.
