Overview

Graham Roland created the American psychological thriller television series “Dark Winds,” based on the Leaphorn & Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman. It premiered on AMC and AMC+ on June 12, 2022. The series stars Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn, a veteran Navajo Tribal Police officer, and Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, a young Navajo police officer who is eager to prove himself.

The series is set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley. Leaphorn and Chee embark on an investigation of a series of seemingly unrelated crimes, only to discover that they are all connected to a dark and dangerous secret.

Dark Winds has received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its performances, writing, and atmosphere. The network has renewed the series for a second season.
